Bosnia Eliminate Qatar with Commanding 3-1 Victory as Ajratbegovic Screamer and Džeko Influence Shine

Bosnia and Herzegovina sent Qatar crashing out of the 2026 World Cup with a convincing 3-1 win at Luminus Stadium in Group B. A stunning long-range strike from Ajratbegović, a Džeko-forced own goal, and a late substitute finish from Mahmić secured the victory, with Qatar's Haydos pulling one back before halftime.
Ajratbegović Opens with a Screamer
The pick of the goals came in the 29th minute when Ajratbegović collected the ball on the edge of the box, shifted onto his stronger foot, and unleashed a ferocious long-range effort that flew into the net. It was a goal of the highest quality and set the tone for the evening.

Džeko Forces Own Goal
Five minutes later, Bosnia doubled their lead through fortunate circumstances. Džeko collected the ball at the back post and cut it back into the danger zone, where Boudiaf deflected it into his own net under pressure. Bosnia were firmly in control at 2-0.
Qatar Hit Back Before the Break
Qatar gave themselves a lifeline in the 43rd minute. Edmilson drove to the byline on the left side of the box and cut the ball back, with Haydos arriving to tap home and make it 2-1 heading into halftime.

Mahmić Seals It Late
Qatar pushed for an equaliser in the second half, with Afif going close in the 56th minute, but Bosnia held firm. In the 80th minute, a well-worked tactical corner found Bašić on the right side of the box, whose low cross caused chaos and allowed substitute Mahmić to arrive late and finish, putting the result beyond doubt at 3-1.
Group B Standings
Qatar are eliminated from the tournament. Bosnia advance with a strong points haul, boosting their chances of progressing from Group B.
