FA Backs Tuchel for Euro 2028 Despite Heartbreaking World Cup Exit

The Football Association has officially confirmed Thomas Tuchel will remain England head coach through UEFA Euro 2028, completely dismissing speculation about his future following a dramatic World Cup semifinal exit against Argentina.
England appeared destined for the final after Anthony Gordon opened the scoring in Atlanta. However, Tuchel’s tactical decision to transition into a defensive back-five in the 72nd minute backfired. The Three Lions surrendered 93 percent of late possession, culminating in a devastating stoppage-time winner by Argentina’s Lautaro Martínez.
While pundits and fans heavily criticized the conservative tactical shift, FA Chief Executive Mark Bullingham reaffirmed full confidence in the German manager. Tuchel, who recently extended his contract, stated he remains “100 percent committed” to leading the nation at the upcoming home Euros.
The immediate focus now shifts to Saturday’s third-place playoff against France in Miami. Despite admitting it is a fixture neither side wants to play, Tuchel promised a professional response and is expected to heavily rotate his squad to hand opportunities to reserve players. England then returns to competitive action on September 26 against Spain at Wembley to kick off their UEFA Nations League campaign.
