Myanmar Crushes Philippines 4-1 to Boost ASEAN Hyundai Cup Hopes

Myanmar’s national football team kept their semi-final hopes alive with a dominant 4-1 victory over tournament hosts Philippines in their ASEAN Hyundai Cup Group B clash on Tuesday.
The visitors wasted no time asserting dominance. Kyaw Min Oo opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a clinical finish. Myanmar doubled their lead in the 28th minute when striker Than Paing capitalized on a brilliant assist from Maung Maung Lwin, leaving the hosts trailing 2-0 at halftime.
The Philippines found a lifeline in the 68th minute when Jarvey Gayoso fired home to make it 2-1, sparking hopes of a comeback for the home crowd. However, Myanmar quickly extinguished the fightback with a late goal surge.
Win Naing Tun restored the two-goal cushion with a powerful header in the 81st minute. Just two minutes later, Than Paing sealed the emphatic victory, heading in his second goal of the night to fix the final score at 4-1.
With this crucial win, Myanmar climbs to second place in Group B ahead of Malaysia on goal difference, significantly boosting their chances of advancing to the knockout stages.
